From Latin to Jazz

Her musical career began some time ago in Havana, Cuba. Lisay Torranzo is a singer, guitarist, composer and arranger. For more than 15 years she has dedicated herself to exploring and interpreting different musical styles such as Classical Music, Latin Music, Bossa Novas and more recently Jazz, Pop & Rock. She also plays other musical instruments such as piano, tres, Cuban lute, Cuban percussion and sings in different languages such as English, German, Portugese, Italian and in her native language, Spanish. Moreover, she composes and arranges her own music.

Lisay entered the world of music at a very young age, and has been exploring it passionately ever since. She has always enjoyed singing, acting and doing musical theatre. This passion took her years later to the Guillermo Tomás Conservatory of Music in Havana, where she studied Classical Guitar for almost 10 years until graduating in 2009 with a Degree of Senior High Level of Technical and Professional Education as Instrumentalist and Guitar Teacher.
During her studies and the first years of her musical career she had the opportunity to perform in countless competitions, festivals and concerts in the most important theatres and venues in Havana, such as the García Lorca Theatre, the Amadeo Roldán and the América Theatre.

In order to expand her musical career outside of Cuba, she moved to the Middle East (Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi) in 2011, where she continued her journey as a singer and guitarist in different bands. For more than 6 years she performed in 5-star hotels and clubs such as: Intercontinental Hotel, Al Bustan Palace, Shangri-la, Grand Hyatt, Route66Club, Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi and Anantara Eastern and Mangrove in Abu Dhabi.

After her time in the Middle East, she decided to widen her horizons and move to Germany in 2017, where she continued her musical career as a soloist and took part in important projects such as: La Banda del Casino de Baden Baden, Semino Rossi Latin Band, as part of Peter Götzmann's Project "World Concerts", with the David Lenis Band in Munich and the Cuban Traditional Music trio "HavanaSon3" with Cuban singer Yeni Toro.

Motivated to continue improving her musical skills, she earned in march 2025 her Bachelor degree in Jazz Vocals at the University of Music and Theatre (HMTM) Munich, Germany and currently is doing her Master in Jazz Education.
In January 2025, she performed at the 40th edition of Jazz Plaza in Havana, giving life to the Latin Jazz project "Between Cities, Cuba/Munich" alongside renowned Cuban trumpeter Yasek Manzano and German pianist Matthias Bublath, with whom she continues to work on the release of his first audio/visual material.
She is also working on a new project with Venezuelan double bassist Wilbert Pepper, "Latin Echoes Duo."
